72hrs in Luanda
Luanda offers tourists a real treat for the eye: from long, untouched beaches, to lushes forests and parks, visitors are bound to get more than they bargained for when visiting this beautiful Atlantic coastal city.
Located about 40km south of the capital, the Miradouro da Lua (the Moon Viewpoint) is a spectacular landscape, shaped by years of rains and erosion, and resembles the surface of the moon. Visit the Palacio de Ferro (Iron Palace), a historical monument located in downtown Luanda. Many liken the architecture of the Palace to that of Gustave Eiffel.
Visitors will also enjoy the Museu Nacional da Escravatura (National Museum of Slavery) and the Fortalezad de São miguel (Fortress of São Miguel), which is now the Central Museum of the Armed Forces.
For those who enjoy the night life, Luanda comes alive at dusk. Dance the night away to music like kizomba, semba, rebita and kuduro. The best bars and restaurants are located on the Island of Luanda (Ilha de Luanda), which is one of the most beautiful parts of the city.
