The recent visit of French President, Emmanuel Macron, to the Ivory Coast has resulted in plans for a $1.6 billion subway for Abidjan. The subway, which is anticipated for 2020, will stretch along 37.9 kilometres and cross all over the city from the north to the south.
This project is anticipated to be completed in two years and will transport around 300 000 people daily. With five million inhabitants in Abidjan, the new subway is expected to substantially facilitate better flow of traffic.
