Ivorian street foods
The Ivorian palate is very distinct and includes a variety of African foods but also has European, especially a lot of French influences. Ivorian foods are colourful, sweet, nutritional and in general very spicy. One of the local specialities, Attieke is made with cassava ground into couscous-like grains. Attieke was declared a national dish of the country in 2016.
The best place to taste local foods in Ivory Coast is on the streets of Abidjan. Called street foods, you can find numerous stands with women selling plantain bananas, yogurts, sweet bread, and different types of doughnuts all over the city. Street foods are usually cheap, tasty and very filling.
