Urban Park Project
Emirates International Investment Company (EIIC) has revealed their latest foreign development at Algiers’s first Assises du Tourisme exhibition. The new development, a $5 billion urban park project entitled, Dounya Parc, will be developed by EIIC’s subsidiary, Société des Parcs d’Alger.
The 6.6 million square metre project will be a central metropolitan park, with 25% dedicated to high quality commercial and residential development. EIIC is looking to enhance the natural environment and will create trails throughout the park and interior of the site, with additional attractions such as an equestrian centre, golf course, children’s playgrounds, nature and hiking trails.
EIIC will also be planting a ‘green belt’ of trees around the border of the park, as well as planting Mediterranean trees, olive groves and several themed gardens. The park is designed to both preserve the nature of the site and to address the urban development of the surrounding areas.
The project is expected to be completed in 2012.
