Construction of new mall underway
Construction on the $72 million Alick Nkata Shopping Mall has commenced in Zambia’s capital city of Lusaka. About 300 jobs are expected to be created during construction of the project and another 500 permanent jobs, once the project is completed.
The project includes the construction of a three star hotel, a shopping centre, an office building and an entertainment facility. It will be completed in 2019.
A Chinese firm, the China State Construction Engineering Corporation, has won the tender to build the ultra-modern shopping mall, and has pledged to do a quality job. The company is also committed to adhere to environmental guidelines during construction of the project.
The China State Construction Engineering Corporation has undertaken other projects in Zambia valued at more than $500 million and has created over 2000 jobs in the process.
