‘King of Beers’ coming to Nigeria
Global brewing giant, Anheuser-Busch InBev announced its plans to introduce its signature brand, Budweiser, considered the ‘King of beers’, into the Nigerian market in 2018. The brewer will complete a $250 million brewery – it’s second largest on the continent – in Africa’s most populated country.
The construction of the new brewery is planned for completion by mid-2018 and forms part of a long term investment for the company in the West African nation. AB Inbev is the world’s largest brewer and sells over 500 beer brands in more than 150 countries around the world.
Africa is the fastest growing beer consumption continent with the West African region contributing to the largest portion. Beer volume growth in Africa is set at 4.5% year on year – compared to 1.4% globally and the continent’s beer market is worth an estimated $13-billion.
