The national oil company Sonatrach and Chinese group China Petroleum Engineering and Construction (CPECC) have signed a contract worth DZD 45 billion (i.e. over $410 million) for the restoration of Sidi R’zine Refinery in Baraki (Algiers).
The agreement was confirmed by the head of Sonatrach refinery segment, Tahar Cherif Zerrar and General Manager of CPECC Algeria, Liu Chun Lin, in the presence of Energy Minister Noureddine Boutarfa, as well as the Chinese ambassador to Algiers, Yang Guangyu.
Once rehabilitated, the Algiers Refinery will see its gas and oil production capacity increase from 737,000 tons to 1.18 million tons and double the capacity of super gasoline with a consequent increase in storage capacity of fuels.
